Bear Hands Art Factory and Play Date are teaming up to offer an After-School Pottery Club that will give your children an enjoyable and low-key outlet for working with clay. This will be a time they can play, ask questions, try things and not be under pressure to perform. Clay is a medium that helps us calm down and unwind, consider things and take time to build something.
This Pottery Club is an 8-week program, one class per week and is limited to 6 students. The first 6 classes will focus on hand-building with clay. Then as students become comfortable enough to work independently, we will start using the potter’s wheel! While they enjoy this time of creativity, they will also learn about planning, structure, cooperation, cleaning up after their work, and taking responsibility for their results. During the 7th class, students will learn how to glaze pottery and prepare it for firing. The last day will be a critique style class where students’ look at their accomplishments and learn to analyze, describe and interpret the artwork they have created.
